Statement regarding recent event surronding former President Chen

Regarding the recent event surrounding former President Chen, and its social implications, Chairperson of the Democratic Progressive Party, Ing-wen Tsai has the following statement:

1. We are sorry for the impact and anxiety experienced by our supporters and the people of Taiwan brought upon by this case.

2. Regarding this case, we will not be biased, or protect anyone. The party and members of the DPP’s Internal Commission against Corruption has decided to conduct an investigation in accordance with the regulations and procedures stipulated by the party constitution.

3. This case will unavoidably damage the Democratic Progressive Party. However, we will face this case with courage and deal with the matter responsibly. We will continue to remain reflective and progressive; so that the Taiwanese people can look forward to a new Democratic Progressive Party.
