DPP Poll on the 2009 World Game in Kaohsiung

70.5% of people said they watched the live broadcast of the Kaohsiung World Games on television and 1.5% watched the opening or closing ceremony and the games at the venue, i.e. 72% of public were directly or indirectly involved with the Kaohsiung World Games.

With regards to being allowed to bring the nation's flag to the venue and the allowance for Ma to declare open the games as the nation's president (a breakthrough for the “Olympic Model”), 68.9% of respondents think that these are the results hard-earned by Taiwan, 12% thinks that it was a goodwill gesture from China. (87.4% of pan-green supporters, 66.2% of pan-blue supporters and 60.1% of swing voters believe that it is “the results hard-earned by Taiwan”.)

Regarding the absence of the Chinese team in the opening and closing ceremonies, 48.6% of respondents think that it was an intentional boycott from China, 32.5% thinks that it was a mutual agreement between Taiwan and China.

82.6% of respondents think that the Kaohsiung World Games have achieved to promote the highlights of Taiwanese culture.

90.3% of respondents think that the Kaohsiung World Games have successfully promoted Taiwan's international status and visibility.

91.6% of respondents thinks that the World Games in Kaohsiung was a success. (97.4% of pan-green supporters, 93.5% of pan-blue supporters and 87.3% of swing voters all agree that it was a success.)

82.3% of respondents were satisfied with the performance of Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu at the World Games 2009.
